While the song itself is amazing and all, can I just express how much I love the picture of Mario and Sonic here? It’s so nostalgic and captures their rivalry back in their earlier days that looking at it takes me back in time. I love these old 3D renders so much. I would hang this picture on my wall if it was turned into a poster. I simply love seeing Mario and Sonic together on screen. They just look so cool together. I suppose the red and blue dichotomy is just that appealing to look at.

In every single Mario and Sonic crossover game, the two have always been stuck in two categories.
Mario is the generalist. He's the guy you depend on when you just want a good time and nothing more. His playstyle in most games revolves around boots-to-the-ground functions and dependable game knowledge to rely on.
Sonic, though, is more of a specialist comparatively. If he's not using his speed, then he's got some kind of a miscellaneous gimmick that ties his whole playstyle together, whether it be some big fuck-off move, a different meter system, or just modified stats in general.
This, in my opinion, perfectly captures the nineties' rivalry between Jump and Speed.
