Big balls to do that, when I first saw the movie I felt so embarrassed for him but now I’ve grown up, I realize how hard that has to be, especially for a bullied kid like him

I love what Will does at the end. He's the only adult that sees what Marcus needs: he has to be put on the same page with the rest of his peers. To that end, Will is even willing to sacrifice his own dignity in front of hundreds of kids.

This is such a superb superb scene. From Marcus' embarrassment at the beginning, which breaks your heart, over Will entering the scene relieving you somewhat, the wonderful song with the background strings coming in bringing tears to your eyes and then ending in a comical scene that makes you laugh out loud. Terrific acting, terrific writing. One of my all time favourites.

I think about this film all the time; I went to see it at a 99 cent theatre to kill some time back in the early 00's; It was without a doubt one of the nicest surprises as far as films go, I was weeping in the theatre, this scene just hits you out of now where
