Oregon driver license gets bolder colors and stronger security features

The next time you renew your Oregon driver license or identification card you may see a new design with new security features. The Oregon Department of Transportation's DMV is rolling out a new card design starting this winter and into early 2019.

I've been looking for what symbols are included. Looks like the Western Meadowlark, Oregon Grape, Mt. Hood, a map with the counties...what else?
It would be nice to have these listed someplace versus "various Oregon symbols" - especially for new Oregonians.

In 2018, according to the video, the cost for the Real ID was the same as a regular renewal. Lol!!! It's now $30 more.

Worst license I've ever seen. Font too small to read on much of it, and the hol9grams make it difficult to read.

All those new security features can easily be defeated. The companies that make the "Novelty ID's/Drivers Licenses, are using the same kind of equipment as the DMV. To think that they can't copy and defeat all the new security features shows how ignorant the government is.

The new security features do not help law enforcement with anything because they are not trained on what to look for anyway.

All law enforcement uses when they check ID's/Drivers Licenses is the Type 1 barcode on the back. If they can't scan that they they just run the ID's number. Through their computer. So if their system is down which I have seen it down personal, then they have no way of really verifying if it is real. I have watched a police officer hand a fake ID back to an individual before because of that very same situation. The police officer was ignorant on what a fake ID looks like.

You see there are 49 other States besides Oregon that have their own designs and security features. Without the computers in the patrol cars the police have virtually no way of being able to tell that an ID/Drivers license is fake. All because they are not trained on what to look for on all 50 states.

The Type 1 barcode is like a "key", it onlocks information that only a government computer has access to. So there for it would only matter at a government facility, checkpoint, or with law enforcement.

Now on to the Type 2 bar code. The Type 2 bar code is virtually useless security feature. All the Type 2 bar code is, is a second language for a computer. It is not secure any computer or smart phone cane read it. It doesn't have any real way for a business to verify the persons age because it's not linked to any government computer. All the fake ID manufacturers know this, and so they put it on all the fake ID's.

I understand you will need a Birth Certificate Certified or rather unrestricted? How will Foreign Birth Certificates be handled? Who will be able to read all the different languages and check the area of where they were born?

What the United States need is a Nationalized ID Card/ Drivers License. You have it look the same in all 50 states and provinces.

That way when some goes to buy alcohol at a store or bar, the clerk or bartender is not relying on just the Type 2 bar code to verify if the person is 21. It will make it easier for security officers, store clerks, bouncers, bartenders, and law enforcement to be able to check the ID's and know what to look for as far as security features are concerned.

Now even with all that said it will not make it full proof, because the companies that make the "Novelty ID's" use the same type of equipment and technics that the DMV uses.

To think they can't defeat the security features is just ignorant. Those companies that make the "novelty" ID's sell them for $200 and more with all the security features and they sell millions of those ID's every year. A company that makes over hundred million a year on novelty ID's has the money and technology to defeat all those security features.

Fake ID's are a billion dollar business.

I do not want your "PRIVILEGES". I much prefer my God given "Imprescriptible Rights to travel by the common means of the day. Make sure you spend lots of taxpayer funds on those big fancy palaces that you unnecessarily build with those unlawful taxations.
