Que -> As US Iran tension Rises, India will have to balance its ties with all parties. India's economic and strategic interests will take ahead if there is any further instability or tension in the region. Comment.

Ans -> Recently, in a drone attack, US assassinated Quds Force General Qassem Soleimani, which is an Elite branch of Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, in Baghdad, Iraq. Iran has warned the US that it will retaliate. Tensions between US and Iran started rising when US unilaterally withdrew from Iran Nuclear deal in 2018. If further tensions raises between these two countries, India will have to suffer, it won't be able to choose either side, because both the countries are important for India's economic and strategic interest.
Interest with Iran
1. Iran was one of the largest supplier of crude oil to India but due to secondary sanctions under CAATSA India zeroed out oil imports from Iran.
2. We have around 8 million diaspora in West Asia region which is benefiting India by sending remittances, influencing the governments, creating good image, and by many more ways, if any turbulence take place in that region, much of the Indian diaspora would have to leave the region.
3. India has invested heavily in chabahar Port, but companies and Institutions are not investing or not interested in the chabahar port due to escalating tensions between US and Iran.
4. India is dependent on Iran for suitable connectivity with Europe and middle east.
5. India is getting oil from Gulf countries, which comes through strait of hormouz. The only thing to control this is trade is to have a good navy, and Iran has the capable Navy staff to make turbulence in the region which would affect Indian Oil imports.
Interest with US
1. India is doing 2+2 dialogue with US to increase defence cooperation between the two countries.
2. India is heavily exporting goods to US, the tensions between the two can reduce these exports.
3. US is a good ally for India to counter the increasing assertiveness of China in Indian ocean. If tensions increases between Iran and US then it could impact the regional security of India regarding China.
So we are in a condition where we need to make coordination between the economic and strategic relations between the two countries. Indian need to decide if further tensions increases in the region its policy should be neutral with respect to both the countries.

Yes sir you're right media shouldn't act as a jury but at the same time we also know that a clap can't be executed with a single hand,
The students of JNU should not have given provocative statements and slogans by misusing their right to freedom of speech and expression,
Because such provocative statements and slogans gives rise to riots and arsons and thereby it threatens the dignity and integrity of the country

My question is "Hamas terrorist group" belonging to Shia based or Sunni based, please clarify my doubt because I have little bit confusion related to 4th of Jan news analysis.

On 4th Jan news analysis your colleague suggested that "Hamas terrorist belongs to Shia Muslims"

Que -> what is evidence based policy making? Discuss the various challenges of malnutrition in India and how ebpm can help resolve this crisis.

Ans -> Evidence Based Policy Making (EBPM) assist the policy makers in making decisions about projects, plans, programs and policies, by placing the best available evidence from research done by the genuine and trustworthy Institutions and organisations, so that the policies could have Deep Impact and approach to a good implementation level. For example, from randomised evaluations in India, Ghana and Kenya, researchers learn why children are behind in school and then they gave the conclusion that the grouping of the students should be done by their current learning level rather than the age.
Despite the fact that Central and state governments are working hard to achieve the sustainable development goal by 2030, Indian society is still facing the problem of malnutrition and undernutrition. The progress in maternal and child nutrition is varying tremendously by State. Children are facing overweight, obesity and non communicable diseases like diabetes. There, multiple schemes are running under centre and various state governments like Public Distribution system, National Health Mission, POSHAN abhiyaan etc by different Ministries, but there is lack of coherence and intermingling between them which is leading to the failure of delivery system.
So for dealing the ground level problems the EBPS could be a boon for policymakers. The data about the malnutrition from different areas should be collected, processed by good and experience data scientist, find the gaps in delivery of services by using many tools and artificial intelligence. After analysing the key challenges the policies should be created for the larger public good by putting the evidences in the mind.

The tensions between US and Iran escalated with the killing of top Iranian General Qassem Soleimani. India, being a close ally to both the countries, will have to balance its ties with all parties.

Iran has its conflicts with USA, Israel and Saudi Arabia whereas Iraq stands as a friend . USA and Israel are important strategic partners for India. A number of defence deals have been finalised with these countries such as Apache helicopters(USA), Barak 8 (Isreal), etc.
On the other hand, Saudi Arabia and Iraq are key players in maintaining the energy security of India.
With the rising importance of Chabahar Port, Iran becomes central to India’s plan to access west Asia.
Apart from all this, other concerns such as millions of Indian diaspora will be affected if tensions increase in west Asia. Also, the divide between Shias and Sunnis will widen which will cause unrest amongst the large population of Shia in India.

Hence, India’s strategic and economic interests will be affected if the instability in the region increases.
