Everyone that is employed by our government, especially ones that are either elected or political appointments (like judges) should have their tax returns be public. It's the best way to make sure that nobody along the way is using their government position to enrich themself.

I'm a government employee. I wouldn't have a problem with making my tax returns public. I've had no dirty dealings with individuals or companies that would enrich me based on the actions I've taken in my job. I have nothing to hide, and neither should any other government employee.

Finland, Norway and Sweden publish everyone's tax returns, every year. These three countries are also at the top of every index of "freedom", transparancy, level of democracy, and quality of life. It is a mistake to say that the "tax system is broken". It is doing precisely what it was designed to do.

Look, federal jobs scrutinize the credit, taxes and backrounds of average citizens for employment and continued employment. The reason: to ensure that the employee won't be compromised, bribed etc from doing their jobs as intended. Why should it be any different for the highest federal jobs in the country?

When I hear of a company that is always losing money, I suspect money laundering. Especially when the tax return is filled with obviously fake numbers like the expenses exactly matching revenues, and especially when there are known to be mystery cash infusion. And particularly when there are other reasons to suspect money laundering, such as prior history of it -- civil actions against his casinos for removing anti-money laundering controls, for example, and the large portion of his central American properties that were sold to rando three letter corporations for cash.
