Hopefully Shimano will have a bigger fan base always, so that Sram will have to continue to work harder to innovate and hopefully keep their price lower than now

Me personally from my years of experience everything thats compared has its Pros & Cons
Basing from my experience solely
Sram:
Pros:
More durable(my experience), the electronic groupset from Sram works smoothly, the hood design is very comfortable and its mtb groupsets work really great
Cons:
Mechanical double tap feature tends to be an annoyance for some and sometimes causes imprecise shifting, tends to be harder to maintain
Shimano:
Pros:
More trust worthy, has a better pull, tends to be more precise and faster in shifting when properly tuned and set up, most groupsets are better than most of Srams groupsets
Cons:
Di2 groupsets has more problems than Sram eTap groupsets, mechanical groupset maintenance tends to be harder, Mtb groupsets slightly has a lower performance than Sram (in my opinion)

Sram MTB (except for brakes), Shimano road - reason being sram hoods are to bulky for people with smaller hands. Otherwise does not matter.

SRAM went the way of gawd awful scummy paddle shifters (left down, right up). Shimano is much more intuitive with right for rear cassette and brake and front for front chainrings and brake. Plus, SRAM battery life is crap compared to di2.

Shimano all the way.
