We played this a lot during my 07-08 deployment to Afghanistan. I’ve cried and screamed during this song since then. From Raleigh to Fayetteville. This song still pulls me out of some dark shit. Thank you.

"Wagon Wheel" is definitely one of the most beautiful pieces of American folk music. You guys know how to wash away from my soul the dust of everyday life! This music means a lot to me and has undoubtedly been my favorite piece since I was a child. I'm 22 now and I still can't listen to these fiddle solos without having a bright smile.
It's because of this song that I picked up the banjo. It's what sparked my passion for the United States and its amazing people. And it's the tune I first heard when I set foot on North American soil.
May the blessings of God encompass you all. May the divine favor extend to the Appalachian mountains and its splendid culture, deeply intertwined with its roots and history.

Happy birthday to this American classic! I'd love to see you on the stage of the Ryman Auditorium one day!

Greetings from France.

This is one of those tunes that you will always remember where you were the first time you heard it.

This is the National Anthem of Appalachian Trail thru hikers making their way up that 2200 mile footpath. It's sung many nights in my yard in Lehigh Gap, PA ;-) Happy Birthday, Wagon Wheel!!!

This song was playing the literal second my son was born; my wife had a playlist going and this was on as he was born.

Man this band got torn to shreds. But still good. Saw them sometime near the start in Lancaster, PA. It was a great show.

I vividly remember my folks introducing my siblings and I to this song right about when it came out. Not my cup of tea at first but I grew to love it, and bluegrass on the whole, very quickly. When this jam was on, the mood in the house was elevated. Grateful to my folks and OCMS for such kind memories.

I love this so much, and the story of Bob Dylan and the respect y'all had for him. Sorry Darius stole all the glory of this great story. I like your version best.

Dylan credited the phrase "Rock me, mama" to bluesman Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup, who recorded a song with this title in 1944. He likely got it from a Big Bill Broonzy recording "Rockin' Chair Blues" from 1940 using the phrase "rock me, baby". The phrase "like a wagon wheel" is used in the 1939 Curtis Jones song "Roll Me Mama" that includes the lines "Now roll me over, just like I'm a wagon wheel" and "just like I ain't got no bone". He re-recorded it in 1963 as "Roll Me Over", with some of the lyrics. In the meantime, Lil' Son Jackson came up with "Rockin' and Rollin" in 1950 using the phrase "Roll me, baby, like you roll a wagon wheel".
