We also do it just in the grill, we don't even make a charcoal pyramid.
Just a few blocks of starter around the charcoal and just light those.
Sure it ain't the fastest way, but at least it ain't complicated either haha

I used gas and a leaf blower …works all the time and gets coal white hot in like 2 mins

I use a weed burner. Takes 2 minutes to light a full kettle of coals.
