Review: Tim Holtz Rotary Paper Trimmer

Been wanting a rotary paper trimmer for a long time and I finally bought this one (it was not gifted to me by Tonic Studios or Tim Holtz - this was bought by me). I like it, but frankly it's a little disappointing in that cutting in one direction shreds the edge and the flip out arms are not quite aligned flat with the edges of the rulers. For the price point I was expecting more.

Hi Jeff, Solution to the rough edge. While cutting push the blade toward the metal cutting edge. There's a little wiggle in the blade. If you hold the blade toward the edge you'll get a smooth cut every time, in either direction. Although it's a long video, Tim Holtz mentions this in the video launching the rotary trimmer. Hope this helps.

I'm so glad I didn't buy this! I've seen so many complaints about the jagged edges.
Next time you want to try out a trimmer, try a Dahle 507. Similar size and in my experience, very accurate and clean cuts, and the paper guard is automatic.

Hi Jeff, I have been interested in this paper trimmer and I watch many videos on it and I do like what I have been watching so far I do think I will buy this trimmer at Frank Garcia’s Studio in Southern California for 60.00. I watch Kathy Orta King with Paper Phenomenon and she has a tip for the 6-61/2 inch mark that will help you and TH I feel did answer a lot of questions regarding issues that people have had. I hope this helps you thanks for your review
