GT3 COMPARISON: McLaren GT3 in rF2 v ACC v AMS2

Testing the McLaren 720S GT3 across three excellent sims was a challenge, but the latest GT3 cars released by Automobilista 2 has triggered a storm of comparison videos and I needed to get in on the act to satisfy my own curiosity.

Here's my take on AMS2 first offering, up against the stalwarts of GT3 sim racing namely Assetto Corsa Competizione and rFactor 2, titles that also have the 720S GT3 as vanilla content, while ACC and AMS2 have great renditions of licensed Kyalami (new layout) there is also an excellent version for rF2 by Global Endurance Modding which was used in this video.

In the end, it is a hard call to decide which is 'The Best' as all three sims have benchmark traits but the real 'elephant in the room' is the lack of online play; a vital segment of the sim racing world where iRacing sets the bar by a long margin

As long as the multiplayer platforms, licensing and ecosystem does not compare to iRacing, no matter how good the physics, other sim titles will struggle. But they all have the foundations for a superb game.

Nevertheless, this video is about sampling these cars which I did as follows:
30 minutes practice, 10-minute qualifying and a ten-minute race against AI.
rF2 AI at 100% and 25% aggro, ACC AI at 92% and 60% aggro, AMS2 at 100% AI and 70% aggro. Enjoy.

In AMS2 you should activate the brake temps in the HUD and adjusting the brake ducts accordingly. Brake pressure might be also an issue and there is a global setting as well as in each car setup. I recommend using Tactile feedback to feel locking wheels and this effect through Simvibe is awesome in AMS2 and missing in ACC. I saw people in ACC doing low 1:39 and even 1:38 seems possible. Certainly not with my technique, since I'm using proper technique and no alien shenanigan. The biggest problem of ACC seems for me, that it doesn't simulate tyrewalls at all or not enough, which can be exploited by braking and cornering simultaneously in a way that isn't possible in real cars.

Nice review of course RF2 is N1, but if you want to be competitive on RF2 AI must be seted 106 or over .. depending on mod or dlc

Rf2 great, but I'm not feeling what others seem to feel for acc and ams2. AMS2 just feels strange and acc bland. Also not sure what others think but the sense of speed I get from acc just seems slow.

Edit. AMS2 is feeling great since I last tried. There are some great car / track combos on this sim 👍

You mention the vague slides in ACC . For me, the lack of "wheel feel" in ACC is its biggest drawback. I have not driven modern GT3s in real life (closest is Gallardo ST and 911 GT2 back in the early 2000s). rF2 is very good at conveying the feel of the wheel weight and tyre feel. Also, in real life, you know what it feels like to come onto a kerb really fast. The transition from tarmac feel to kerb feel is something you can anticipate (at least in the dry) and be ready for in advance. In ACC I feel absolutely zero difference in the wheel when I am on the kerbs. In real life you are immediately aware of the surface change. Do you even come close to that in ACC?

ACC is horrible to drive now, it's like driving on a wet surface.

what is the best ? If I understand well, it's ACC. Thanks I will pass AMS2, the steam flop.

Lots of comparison videos to be found, but they all never mention the elephant in the room...
