Why Optimus Prime Was Frozen at the Beginning of Transformers 5. After defeating the evil mercenary Lockdown along with Cemetary Wind. Optimus realized that he still had a price on his head which was orginally placed by his creators. So he thought he decided to venture off into space to find them before they found him. But by the time we saw him in the Last Knight his body was frozen and looked like it had seen better days. Making us wonder what happened to him during his trip. Now something to keep in mind is that this was most likely not a straight shot to Cybertron. If you remember shortly before leaving the Earth he took the seed stating that he would take it to where could never be found again. Which could've ultimately been a long trip. Its important to point out that flight capable Transformers utilize a lot of energon flying through space. Once they run out of it their bodies shut down and go into stasis. Which is what ultimately happened to Megatron shortly after landing on Earth. And this most likely happened to Optimus.

It reminds me of how Optimus Prime, Ratchet, Jazz, and Ironhide traveled all the way to Earth and crash landed like meteors before emerging in protoform appearances to get new alt-modes as clothes.

Well that wouldn't explain how he was ok when he hit Cybertron so in my opinion he shut himself down to save some energy for when he gets to his home planet

Optimus reached his max speed then shut down to save energon. It's also because that unless there's something that hit him his speed will remain the same. So the collision with Cybertron would wake him up meaning he basically teleported

Well would make sense but also space is freezing cold
So it would make sense that prime freezes over while going into stasis in space drifting into the direction of cybertron
And since the message he said to his creators can be heard from him i believe optimus intentionaly went into stasis after rocketing himself in cybertrons direction, after dropping off the seed

He launched himself in the exact direction of cybertron and then shut himself down to save energon.

I think he did it on purpose, I mean imagine how long it took to get there, if he somehow froze himself then he wouldn't have to wait for how ever long it took, so for him it's basically instant or basically going into cryostasis, where something basically gets frozen for a very long period of time so it doesn't age kind of thing or something like that, cause if he had run out of energon he probably wouldn't have gotten up after crash landing like nothing happened 🧐

That could explain why I never saw the seed again in the last knight. I know it's obvious but thanks for solving the mystery plaguing my mind for some time

He froze him self and lets the impact from hitting cybertron wake him up

Optimus had powered his rocket down and set course for space but he knew he was going to eventually collide with cyberton because cyberton was on a course heading to earth and if you watch back this scene shows why optimus is the best and the smartest tranformer

He just temporarily powered down since space doesnt have air or gravity to slow him down when he got to full speed he probably shut down so to him it would feel like a few seconds to get there but in reality it took a long time

Or maybe where he burried/hid the seed it was very cold place which made him use his all energon and eventually froze him because space is actually cold ❄️

Ok but can we just mention how Optimus crashed into Cybertron and somehow stuck the landing in a kneeling pose? It's like, that old meme where a lady takes off her glasses and suddenly has a full face of makeup on, but translated to Transformers. It makes no sense that he stuck the landing and looked perfectly fine despite looking dead just a second prior 😂 I honestly saw it as nothing but a marketing scheme as I remember the early trailer where the narrator said that Optimus was dead (even though he wasn't).

Who else remembers that line "we're floooaaating in space" age of extinction trailer were it shows optimus floating in space, exactly like this🤣🤣🤣 sadly i cant find it the probably removed it but, when that first came out and i heard that line, i couldn't breath🤣
