PM Modi urges Ukraine President to ensure safety of Indians at Sumy; Zelensky 'grateful' after call

In a second call to Ukraine President, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged Volodymyr Zelensky to ensure safe evacuation of nearly 700 Indians students stranded in the Ukrainian city of Kyiv. Both the leaders spoke for about 35 minutes and also discussed the evolving situation in Ukraine. Prime Minister Narendra Modi yet again stressed the need for a dialogue between Russia and Ukraine. PM Modi appreciated the continuing direct dialogue between Russia and Ukraine and thanked President Zelensky for his government's help in evacuating Indians from Ukraine. As a student we must understand that Putin is not Modi's younger brother and will do whatever Modi wants. At least India has this kind of relationship with both the countries, there are very few countries who can claim this. Ukraine banned all the commercial flights so one must understand how hard it is to evacuate anyone. This evacuation is possible if one can reach any of the neighbouring countries. And what do you expect, Modi will walk in the streets of Ukraine with missile hitting left or right or by penetrating the Russian and Ukrainian gunfight . What do you expect ? The Russians are offering safe passage to the Indians but if you can reach the border. And everyone knows that reaching the border is no joke amidst Russian missile hitting everything . I am not comparing with anyone but but India is doing a better job, and you can't expect a roller coaster ride in a war torn country like Ukraine .

By blaming the govt will benefit no one .All we can do is prey, keep them safe 🙏🙏

It has been around 2 months since the war tensions started brewing up and the flights were operational till just a few days ago.
Why was the situation not taken seriously by those students then.
I have sympathy for them being stuck in a warzone but I don't see the fault of the Indian government here in any manner.

These are the kind of people who first say that they do not want to live in India and leave India for better facilities, and when they do not get any support from the country they are living in, they criticize Indian Government.

Indian Government has done whatever they can and is still trying to bring all the Indian nationals safely.

I sympathize with their situation, and I understand that they are scared. But blaming the Indian Government and holding it on gun-point is unfair. It's warzone and India has taken up a neutral stand, meaning no party is obligated to help us. Not to mention we had to take a neutral stand because we ABSOLUTELY CANNOT afford another enemy in our region besides terror haven Pakistan and rogue China. I bet that India is doing everything in its power to get her citizens back to safety.

*my friend who got lucky to be rescued in mission ganga told me that, firstly studnets were not taking the warning seriously and when they realized that they had to evacuate Ukraine then some greedy studnets don't want to spend from their own pocket, many were waiting for free airlift*
Thhis is the real reason which nobody is talking about... Even my friend himself admitted that he could have come much earlier but he did not want ro spend 80k to 90k..

The audacity of the first girl to blame indian govt is astonishing.two weeks before the war started, Indian govt was continuously issuing advisory to you people asking to leave Ukraine . You ppl didn't listen to the govt that time. Now you are blaming the government. Atleast india is taking measures to evacuate it's citizens. Even the Western countries like US and UK clearly told their citizens not to expect any help with evacuation.

Why whole responsibility on Indian govt!? Firstly you go to Ukraine on your will, govt didn't forced you to go Ukraine .That was your decision.War has started in Ukraine, it's not India's fault still Indian govt is trying there best to get you out from war zone when other countries are not even evacuating.
We also want your safety return in India but don't blame on Indian govt that they aren't helping you.
It's nowhere written in Indian constitution where Govt will evacuate everyone and if anyone dies then responsibility on govt.

Even our india is so forward, why people go to foreign countries. Once they go they than critisize india that it is dirty. We love to stay there forever. Everyone has to understand how much PM modi is going in stress. He is doing his best to get everyone in India. It's ok that government should support those stranded in all possible way.. but if God forbid anything happens why GOI be responsible GOI is not involved in war... How can you blame GOI.. It is understandable that they are afraid and I'm sure Indian embassy is doing everything possible to evacuate them.. But wrongly blaming GOI is not right...

Not a fan of current administration but these students simply cannot blame the government especially when warnings were issued by GOI a week or two before the war actually broke out.
And for those criticizing India for not standing with Ukraine, you people must understand that picking sides would mean participating in war (not actual fight, but you get it) which India does not want. India wants peace through diplomacy.

Though I understand these are tough times and being in a war zone affects people's minds, people in India and the government are clear on their intentions to help evacuate the students in Ukraine. Having said that, while making a request, It should sound like a request and not an order (which I see at the start of this video).
While the west is tweeting about prayers for Ukraine, India is at least making efforts to send its forces to evacuate its people. It feels very bad when people land here in India after evacuation and talk about India is doing nothing and their evacuation method is not correct (some girl said its not even an evacuation).
