As i was 16 i played twice high school basketball against him in Kastoria.Believe me he was a bad player, very slow in Offence and Defence, but he had something that no one else had.He was very smart and had very long arms for his age.The following year 1997 i was traded to Kastoria and played together with Dimitris.We trained hard 8 hours per day with coach Dimitriadis and Diamantidis became every day better and better but still smart and
committed.Two years later he was traded to Iraklis and i was traded to PAOK back in 1999.I broke my ankle in the third training and the dream was over..i tryied to get back after 3 years playing in the 3rd Division for Vizantas Megaron but still my ankle could not withstand the pressure of a hard training or a game.Its still like a dream..or a nightmare but i am glad and happy we grew up together, we played against, we played together and he became a legend. To all the young guys out there.There is no need to be super talented...work hard, be smart, be a mature player, listen to your coach, take care of your health (10 hour training doesnt transform you to Michael Jordan) and chase your dreams.

Diamantidis did everything in the basketball court:he was giving many assists, he was stoling the ball, he was a good defender and play maker and mainly he could shoot!One of the best Greek players.
