A new chop uploaded every day for 50 days. This series originally comes from Instagram @sirosvaziri #50daysofchops #chopoftheday

Sticking: (R+K)llrrl (R+K)Lrrll looped two times and ending with a (R+K) on the crash. Played as 16th note triplets. Starts one 16th note triplet BEFORE beat 1 in a bar, and ends one 16th note triplet BEFORE beat 1 in the next bar.

This chop has a really groovy feel to it because the syncopated accents before every beat in the bar. It's a surprisingly useful chop/lick to throw in when you're playing swung grooves, as it doesn't lose the backbeat and it repeats itself so it's easy to follow. You just wanna stretch the pocket, not break it!

For anyone interested, this is the mic setup I'm using:

AKG C 391 B a few inches underneath the hihat
Two Samson C01 mics placed behind me to my left and right, pointing in towards each side of the kit.

All mics are run through a Phonic 808 Firefly U audio interface, and hooked up via USB to my Asus laptop where the audio is recorded and processed in Cubase 7.
