This is a Motormouth couple car review of the Mercedes AMG GLB 35 subcompact SUV with power to spare. This Mercedes-Benz has a 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder with an 8-speed dual clutch transmission, 302 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, standard AWD. The AMG GLB 35 is a 5-seater SUV with an optional 3rd row for $1,300 CAD/$850 USD, it has sharp handling, an engaging drive, it’s easy to manoeuvre in and out of city traffic and has loads of power when passing on the highway. It has an AMG exhaust system, AMG ride control suspension with a choice of comfort, sport and sport+ modes and a double wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension. It’s overall performance is very strong. The GLB-s ride height and large doors makes it easy to get in and out of the vehicle and the boxy design provide excellent visibility creating an open cabin. I think this has a bit of a Mini Countryman look to it but longer. It has standard LED headlights and tailights, twin tailpipes, an AMG specific grille with lettering, an AMG high performance brake system and standard 19” wheels, available 20” and 21” wheels. The AMG night package with black exterior accents, 21” black AMG wheels and the multibeam LED headlights we have on our test model ups the sportiness. What do you get for $59,300 CAD/$49,950 USD? Dual 10.25” screens including a touchscreen and digital driver display, heated front seats, leatherette upholstery, power driver seat with memory, panoramic sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, power folding side mirrors and a power liftgate. In the US, the panoramic sunroof and heated front seats are not standard. However, in the US, Apple Carplay and Android Auto plus blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard. These features are not standard in Canada, they are in the Premium Package for $4,300 CAD along with a power passenger seat. Here are some features you can’t get on the AMG GLB 35, heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel. Our test model is loaded with plenty of packages, price as tested $70,590 CAD.

I bought one of these a year and a half ago in Mountain grey metallic with night package. I love it- it checks all the boxes.
Perfect for our young family 👪 and when the kids aren't in the car- fun for Dad when I feel the need for speed. It's fast enough, lots of space and beautiful interior.

Very good and sympathetically presented test report. You are right, with a continuous large display it looks more harmonious and can be operated very well, I use this configuration in my current B-Class. The design of the GLB is fantastic. Could be my next Mercedes. Question: Does the GLB 35 have real exhaust tailpipes?

We considered the GLC 43 as well but with 3 little ones(2 car seats & a booster) we went for the GLB 35 since it has a 3rd row option and absolutely love it. Awesome review 👍.

As always, excellent video. It sounds like you prefer this over the GLA 35 model, which I recently purchased 6 weeks ago. I considered the GLB next to it on the showroom floor but they did not have the GLB 35 version and I disliked the boxy look of it and preferred the GLA 35 curvy styling. Would you choose the GLB 35 over the GLA 35 model?
