Spoon Doll Script

Hello, it’s Megan, Curator at Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse, here again. Today we are thinking about our favourite crafts at Gressenhall.

In our house our favourite Gressenhall craft is spoon dolls.

Did you know that Gressenhall used to be a workhouse? This was a place where the poor were supported and provided for.

In 1861, 375 people were recorded as living in the workhouse. A few years ago, the museum decided to make a spoon doll for everybody in that list.

Some of the dolls wore drag workhouse uniform. Others were much more colourful. Follow our instructions and make your own spoon doll.
