Now, that's an iconic sound card right there! :) And the Penis P4 will now go up and down with joy! :)
Thanks for this, mate! Truly nostalgic stuff! And you've shown the most perfect DOS games ever made ;) Cheers! Great video!

Que nostalgia, com tanta tecnologia a pessoa bate sempre saudades desses tempos mais antigos. Bom vídeo! 👍🏻

Definitely a nice upgrade. Sounds great man. Someone is going to have a lot of fun with this computer. You've done a lot with it, but could be a fun project for someone as well.

Duke 3d on a proper era machine!

AC'97 audio was pretty much crap for it's entire existence. By the time HD audio became standard with XP and newer, DOS compatability really didn't matter anymore. But for that period of time where AC'97 was on the motherboard, you wanted to install a soundblaster of some kind either ISA or PCI. They sucked in Windows too, which is what they were made for!

That's quite the name you have for the old ASUS. If you changed the 'e' in your channel name to 'i' that would also sound dirty 😛

Bom video btw!

Wow ! And you manage to have sound without going through an ISA port ? Are you doing something special or is it just what you showed us ? It's amazing I thought that to have sound on DOS games the ISA port was mandatory !! :o :o :o

And what about DOS drivers? Shouldn't you install them too to get DOS programs work with the Sound Blaster Live! card?

very nice! i have this card, but the CT4730 variant and it's a lil meh towards my Gigabyte mobo (2ghz Pentium 4), but its great. i got a 2mb soundfont installed but i end up freezing up when im trying to run the Duke3D setup config (no biggie i have the GoG release as well on a PC right next to it. i use a nice lil Saitek/Radio Shack MegaPad XVI plugged into it's gameport, and it's really something with a game like Episode 1 Racer or Dark Forces II, and even playing some later titles like Need For Speed Underground 2 (but in 480p as my Win98 pc uses a 32mb MX200 Geforce2 card. What variant is this one? they're great cards, and pureDOS drivers will work with a lot of them but some have more work at them then others. i missed this era.

Thank you very much for this great video. I appreciate your work. Could you tell me where you could find the dos drivers. How did you install these exactly?

Can you try playing the intro to «Indiana Jones and The fate of Atlantis»? Mine just sounds like crap on my SB Live version.

Hello, don't have time to watch it whole. Looking for PCI soundcard for win98/DOS.
I dont want to be limited by ISA slot. I know, ISA soundblaster have 100% compatilibity in DOS games. But what about PCI one? Which DOS games are not working on it? From what year?
I suppose, that all advanced-time DOS games like in 1995, 1996 and 97 will work 100%? Only old ones (1993 and earlier) will not work?

A friend of mine gets only bleeps when running dos games. He has win98 and SB 5.1 Model CT4790. Windows and windows games work fine but not with dos games. Can someone help me?

What drivers did you use? I have this exact card in my Pentium 166 running windows 98, and I have the original install CD. Some games still have sound issues. IN dos and some in windows. Also one game that used to run while using other drivers, ran well, now crashes on startup with the drivers from the install CD. So, while I do get nice audio in some games, some dont play well. Games like Doom 2 have reverb and echo, games in windows like rayman have sound FX that cut off and dont fully play. Im considering trying to find a soundblaster 16 card instead because I hear its more compatible with DOS and win 98
