I've done EVERYTHING i can think of. I tried to get to the bios battery to reset it, and took the computer apart to where the keyboard was off it and was like, HELL NO I ain't taken this ALL THE WAY apart, because I won't be able to get it back together.

I've taken out the battery, ram, hard disk, optical drive, and etc. Put it all back together, NOTHING. Lights turn on, fan spins, but the bios doesn't get past the POST. NOTHING shows up on the screen

I have the same problem with my L505 as well, it just started yesterday. I've done a fair bit of research and general consensus is that theres a component on the motherboard that has overheated and soldered connectors aren't seated properly.

The only thing i have found that works (It only worked a total of 3 times for me, and I'm currently using my L505 as we speak.) is ---->1. Set your laptop down on a hard surface.
2. Put your left hand on the lower left of the case between the touchpad and left edge of the case About 1" below the keyboard, Press lightly, you should feel the plastic give a little (use your thumb to give an upward pull at the front edge)
3. Turn power on, keep your hand in place through startup

Same here... Toshiba Satellite L745-S4210... won't start up... But if in the beginning the fan was working as in your case, now, after RAM, HDD and Battery removal, even fans won't start... Have you found some cure for that?

very strange...have u tried to boot from a flash drive by removing the HD with a flash drive plugged in?Also, u can try to take apart, remove the CMOS battery for a few seconds, put back together and try it again. If all else fails, try an external monitor to rule out the video cable & wires.

Sounds like a deeper problem than hard drive or RAM, with those the POST would still start. If it overheated, could have lost the CPU. Still, that is not a problem with only one brand. All laptops can overheat! My Compaq Presario CQ61 laptop is good after 5 years but it doesn't overheat because it's not fast enough for gaming

Hello, Today is Friday, January 23, 2015, 8:15 am. I am a Computer Tech. I am working on a Toshiba Satellite L505D notebook. I followed the instructions posted here to reset the power options.

1. While the laptop is powered off, Unplug the Power cord from the laptop.
2. Press the Power button on the laptop and wait 20 seconds.
3. Press and hold in the power button until the Laptop powers off and hold for an additional 10 seconds to drain residual power.
4. Plug the power cord back into the Laptop. You should see three lights turn on in the front bottom of the laptop, 2 green and 1 amber. DO NOT POWER ON at this point. Leave the laptop plugged in for an hour.
5. After an hour, the third light on the bottom front should change from Amber to Green and you should then see 3 Green lights. UNPLUG THE POWER CORD from the Laptop.
6. NOW Press the Power button on the Laptop. You should see your Laptop boot up normally with full screen function returning.

The root cause of this is a faulty CMOS Battery and unless you have a Soldering kit, your options are to follow these instructions and or replace the Motherboard. Have a great day! :)

Did you ever figure out what the problem was with your Toshiba Laptop?

I found that screen is working when you make CPU overheating but this is only one time solution and then you will face same issue after all. I'm keep working on this.
For just letting you guys.
- put any metal pin into bottom of air suction mesh to stop fan spin
- power on wait until turning itself (more than 15mins)
- try to turn-on (Mine was working)
P.S. : this is just let your laptop on one time only or just for a while, so far no solution yet.

I found mine to be the wecam. unplug the webcam from the M/B & see if that works. If not that take out the CMos battery.

It is clear that your problem is not your motherboard. Your problem is the video card. When it gets hot the chip moves out a little and that's what happen. It turns on all lights and fan, but no video. So, your problem is not motherboard as i said, it is video. If video is on board, you can get information on how to repair it without buying a new one. Doing a reflow. Get information on that!!!

I fixed my other toshiba...What it may be is the graphics chip loses its connection over time when laptop gets over heated the chip pins solder melts and then you get what you have...It is a simple hack to fix...You need to disassemble computer so mother board is removed safely...You need a heat gun 450-1000 degree. and mask off the area where the graphics chip is to protect the components near it...Then slowly heat area with gun with side to side movements...Do this getting the chip hot...Then after a short time doing this 1-3 minutes...let cool and reassemble it and turn it on...You should see your bios screen boot up window...Good luck...If that didn't do it, try again, if it still doesn't work, try the connectors and replace cables and/or screen...
