BBC One Idents 2017 (HD)

After a decade of circles, it's goodbye to TV's best idents as BBC One launched a new set of idents to appear between its programmes.
The first new ident was screened on New Year's Day and showed a group of open water swimmers from Somerset.

Aren't they awful?

These idents are the worst I've seen on UK TV ever. It would be better if they made a CGI Toy-Story-type world of a man shitting on the toilet, then zoomed into the toilet and the turd was shaped like a "1".

I can see exactly what they were thinking with the theme and the universality angle, but the documentary style just doesn't work for an ident and I'm left wondering how many consultants failed to point this out.

Also, the BBC are ripping off themselves by doing these, as they're exactly the same format and style
as the 'Rhythm and Movement' idents they had in 2002. ☹️

These indents are actually a lot better than some of the programmes. In fact I thought at first they were trailers for a new Jimmy McGovern or Mike Leigh drama series.

I’m honestly neutral on these normal idents, they have their merits, but it draws them down to being a bit dull. The lockdown idents, in my opinion are the best of the series. They show how you can have a lot of fun if you’re in local lockdown. Oneness is an example of if you do something wrong in your ident package, the ident community will tear you down and force you to go back to past ideas like the Balloon.

The exercise class ones bug one me greatly. Especially the woman in blue at the front-right hand side...makes my OCD side go wild
