As a gymnast ( why I chose this video) no matter what size you are that doesn't mean your performance is bad it just means you may have to work less or more

I really like how Dominique cheered for Emma even when she joined the blue team. It shows that she's nonjudgmental to her teammates and kind.

8:04 I can't believe that the coach made Emma choose between winning and food. I would choose food everyday.

As a retired gymnast, it doesn't matter what size or weight people have.

Why does the coach say Dominique is thinner when Emma is visibly the same size? 💀

As a gymnast for 9 years, who just thankfully got the heck out of there, the coach is scarily accurate. “Winning is your number one priority. Nothing else matters” I swear I have heard more than one gymnastics coach tell me this. Gymnastics is an absolutely brutal sport, and no one understands that. To be a gymnast, you must be in incredible physical shape, mentally strong to endure the verbal abuse, and have the perseverance to get back up a hundred times. Gymnastics is much more than being able to jump really high or flip on a trampoline, it is mentally and emotionally draining. I was never fat shamed, though I do know gymnasts who were and my heart goes out to them, my problem was with constantly getting torn down. Every time I got a correction, I heard that I wasn’t good enough, and still to this day, I have huge problems with my self confidence. I was basically set up to fail and I felt incredibly inferior, a feeling which I still carry with me. I began having horrible stomach cramps at the age of 5 because I was terrified of my coches and didn’t want to go to practice. I have developed depression and anxiety and a horrible self image because of gymnastics. Which I guess is why I get so angry when someone says “gymnastics isn’t a sport” or “gymnastics is so easy” or “I mean it’s all presentation”(yes someone said that to me). Anyway, all other struggling gymnasts out there, keep your head up, you are so much stronger than you realize. And thank you so much Dhar for recognizing the hardships of this sport❤️

As a gymnast, you should never starve yourself because it could make your bones weak, and then you could feel weak weak, and then you could feel really dizzy and then you might pass out so never force yourself

My coach also tears us down, but not to the extent of this. He just yells at everyone and makes inappropriate remarks or jokes. He harasses other coaches and demands things from the authorities. Little kids start crying because of him and some of them get hurt because he pushes them to do something they’re not ready for. He’s the toughest on me and I just make smartass remarks back.

One time, I said school was more important than gymnastics and he said that it wasn’t. I said, “Well, at least I know more math than you” and everyone started laughing, including the other coaches.

You should always be able to eat with pleasure not with guilt. Plus you should never ever force someone to do anything if they don’t wanna do it that just makes their life harder.

Size isn't everything in gymnastics. It's attitude and other factors. I am a former gymnast and even got more than three medals in gymnastics and in other sports too.

6:57 Two pounds away from a perfect score? More like she’s two pounds away from death!

"Winning is your number one priority." Me: "Isn't living and staying alive your number one priority lady? How are you gonna do anything if your dead?"

Coach: "Winning is your #1 priority."
Me: "She can't win if she's dead"

As someone who has been doing gymnastics since age three I will say most of this behavior is caused by self insecurity not peer pressure by the coach. It did take me a long time to realize that size doesn’t matter as long as you have fun

As a National level gymnastic, I am clinically overweight and I am in the gymnastics department but I’ve still been able to win first and second multiple times and I’m still able to learn new skills, it’s good to be smaller as it’s easier to hold and move your body but I’m not less capable than my teammates and neither is anyone else💕

Leadership is not about being appreciated. It's about responsibility and it does not matter if the burden is heavy. It matters that you carry it.

As a gymnast,
You should NEVER starve yourself. There is a girl on my team who gets discouraged because of her weight but gets AWESOME scores. And my coach is just like the blue teams coach, she is one of the best coaches ever. She makes sure we eat before (and have time for our food to settle) and after (if we need to) because she used to have a coach like coach toolan. So for anyone, don’t worry about your weight because you can achieve anything u put your heart and mind to. ❤️💙

(edit) not to be this person but thank you for the likes!!🫶🏻🫶🏻😽

When I was 8 years old, I was told by my gymnastics coach that I was too big for gymnastics. It totally scarred me, and so when I was a young kid I refused to eat. I was treated at hospitals for anorexia and only just recovered from it. Fat shaming is not okay, it has an unimaginable impact on people, and as minor as the comment may seem, the impact is massive. Everyone is beautiful no matter the size.

As someone who has starved themselves this means a lot to me. Starving urself has a lot of health affects. No one should ever starve themselves
