Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics has told DW Israel should stop attacks against UN peacekeepers in Lebanon. He said: "While we are not denying the self-defense rights of Israel within the international law, specifically international humanitarian law, Latvia strongly believes that Israel should refrain from attacking the United Nations forces, the United Nations peacekeepers or observers."
On Ukraine, Rinkevics said the West needed to mobilize more support for Kyiv: "this kind of situation we are in will be resolved only if the Western countries, those countries that are supporting international law and Ukraine in particular, will somehow mobilize more support. So there is no time and place for fatigue."

It is insane to me that Israel is allowed to fire on peacekeepers while Ukraine is prevented from hitting targets in Russia.

So who is condemning the UN for not doing enough not doing their job

Why wasn't he condemning rockets flying from Lebanon?
Those are not peace keepers if they watch how rockets fly from Lebanon towards Israel and rockets from Israel in Lebanon and they do nothing.

Wow, what a great President. Latvia should be very proud of its President. Everything that I heard from the Latvian President makes sense. I wish there was more that we could do to help ❤ Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. If it was not for the bravery and sacrifices of the three Baltic countries, Soviet Union would have not fallen apart. Let us not forget that in a very important time in the history of Soviet Union the three Baltic countries inspired the other regions of Soviet system to rise up and reclaim their natural right to live as FREE people. We must help ❤ Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania to prepare for what Putin has in mind.

Due to the historical reasons Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia are very loyal to Washington instead of EU.

There needs to be an edit of the title for correct English, simple "or" instead of time 'and' place should be sufficient.

The UN is weak and can't even stop one small state. How are you guys going to lead the world if you can't do simple things?

8:57 «It was not directed to Latvia» - how do you know? Did you know it would crash when it entered Latvia’s airspace? If it was directed, you still wouldn’t shoot it down, and this is your personal major issue.

Where was UNIFIL while Hezbollah fired 10, 000 rockets into Israel over the course of a year? What were they doing for the 18 years that they were supposed to be enforcing resolution 1701? It's pretty clear that Hezbollah didn't disarm. It seems like UNIFIL just sat on their hands, collected a paycheck, and then refused to get out of the way when Israel was forced to solve the problem themselves.

End support for both sides, let them duke it out like they both want to. Clearly neither of them care when supporting countries “call for ceasefire”, so let them earn what they deserve without our attention. Waste of time and resources.

We shouldn’t stop supporting Ukraine in their fight against oppression, I hear regular people in my workplace watching the news and saying that my country and others should stop supporting Ukraine so much and tease Zelensky for going around demanding more. Part of the problem is people want these things to blow over fast and if it doesn’t they think we shouldn’t be involved, and are quick to turn over and give up and are more concerned with support involving taxpayers dollars

Very good. From and Americans point of view I would call that transparent. Some thing we don't experience near enough of here. For all of Europe and other parts of the world there is a cost caused by Russia's war. North Korea and Iran are a apart of that cost, as is Belarus. There were good, substantial points, one after another. I am affected very well by the Eastern Europe allies.

What exactly is the role of these "Peacekeepers"? It doesn't seem like they were concerned about Hezbollah building up their forces in the south of Lebanon. They also didn't do anything while Hezbollah were firing rockets and missiles into Israel for nearly a year.

Seriously. Why are they in Lebanon?

Is a summary of UN peacekeepers' objectives and recent (a few years) achievements in Lebanon available anywhere ?

Are any UN peacekeepers currently stationed in Ukraine ?

Giving Ukraine everything it needs to win this war and Ukrainian integration into the EU and NATO is the west’s best self defense.
