Saratoga, Catties and Leathery Grunter in the Dawson River system

Australia Day weekend and the wind was crazy on the coast. I headed out to the freshwater again exploring some new water (to me). It's a pretty cool looking system, very wild and took some work to traverse the down trees. The wind also got up and made life a bit difficult. But as they say, a tough day fishing...

I was onto a nice Saratoga early and ended working hard to get another. It was hard to get by all the catfish! A stop on the way home at a previous favourite place trying for an afternoon bite wasn't as successful as I had hoped, but managed a nice fat little Leathery Grunter.

Lures that caught fish on the day were:
R2S Bubble Pop with assist hooks
R2S Buggi Pop
Pontoon 21 Greedy Guts 44SR

Also used but without success on this trip:
Lively Lures Ziggy SD 70
R2S Spittin WA with stinger hooks
ZMan Diezel Minnowz on jig spin

Even catties are fun when they are hitting surface, but the Toga getting airborne are just spectacular!
