My wife had a similar incident on her first test. She felt she controlled the situation but the twitchy examiner had already touched the brake so it was an instant fail. £100 down the drain and months waiting for a retest because of someone else's bad driving.

Thats the worst thing about taking your driving test, you can do everything perfectly, then this kind of nonsense can happen. Hopefully everything goes/went smoothly on her actual test, depending on when this was recorded.

Taxi drivers probably do more miles in one year than I do in 5 yet they seem To have gotten their license yesterday appalling actions by the taxi driver good job by the instructor

This happened to me all the time as a learner - not in merge lanes but on for some reason every roundabout? It’s like they were coming for me left and right lol. Taught me good hazard awareness, but it was ridiculous since I was test ready so it wasn’t like I was being a complete hazard. People see learners but don’t assess how far along they are.

I had someone stop in the middle of the road to "give way" to me, while I had the give way sign. The tester wanted to fail me, but my instructor stood up for my actions. You see, if I didn't go, they were going to be rear-ended. 10 seconds is a long time to be stationary in the middle of a road for no reason.
