In August 2018, The Danish Broadcast Corporation (DR) aired a concert entitled ”Gaming in Symphony” performed by The Danish National Symphony Orchestra /DR SymfoniOrkestret with The Danish National Concert Choir and various soloists conducted by Eimear Noone. The concert was hosted by the legendary TV presenter Jakob Stegelmann. The music performed was titles from a wide range of video games such as World of Warcraft, Assassin’s Creed, Call of Duty, Hitman, Final Fantasy and many more.

The music from the first Bioshock is simply gorgeous.

Bioshock, for me, hit a lot of the same notes as Metro did. Feeling like you're solely trying to support what's above you from crashing down whilst fending off hopelessly against what's around you. In Metro it's literally the earth itself, weighing down on your as you crawl through tunnels, or the oppressive and hostile nature of the surface. In Bioshock you feel like you're literally holding back the ocean whilst the dangers of Rapture seek to take you out at the same time.

Both of them really threw the power fantasy moments I'd become used to under the bus. SoulsBorne was the same. I'd much rather feel like I've adapted to an overly hostile world and beaten it with commitment and skill then be just another super soldier.

Not that those sorts of games can't be great, of course they can. But I remember Gordon Freeman a lot more then I remember generic CoD player character #57

Very beautiful performance from my favourite game! I'm so glad this was included, as BioShock is one of the highest achievements in video game art ever, including the music from the game.
