I'm gonna be honest. I live in a third world country and it's pretty hard to eat healthy and delicious foods with affordable prices. It's not just about improving metabolism, but also getting enough nutrients. Injust realized that the reason behind my yearlong struggle with abdominal fat was the amount of sugar I consumed through flour even though I never liked sweet foods. Almost every food here is coated with flour, and deepfried.

I’m quite sure her “secret” to staying skinny while eating a lot is intermittent fasting. She might eat a lot in one sitting but to do that she most likely go the majority of the day without any food. That way the body will burn fat while you don’t eat, yet you can eat a LOT in one sitting.

The actual answer (outside of just "genetics"):

Having a flat stomach correlates to having good gut health, getting your micronutrients and keeping a consistent strength training schedule.

A lot of times if your stomach is "distended" it isn't necessarily body fat. If it's hard, and also comes and goes in phases, that is bloating, not fat. Everyone bloats and it fluctuates during the day which is why you get "morning skinny" and then more bloated after dinner. It's completely natural. Having that flat-stomach look means taking care of your gut (eating lots of probiotics such as yogurt, Kiefer etc, ) and eating lots of micronutrients (getting a diverse set of nutrients in your diet-- balanced meals that contain fat, carbs and proteins).

Her answer was really vague but it's right. If you're working out and eating lots of protein, that protein cannot be stored as fat and instead will be used for muscle, and carbs give u energy.

When you do a lot of strength training, running, etc you actually have to eat MORE than the average person to stay lean. The important thing to remember is while athletes DO have a higher caloric intake, they diversify their diet (all of the food she is eating are really nutrient diverse, ) not junk food!

(And also, to lose fat you DO need to be mindful of your caloric intake!)

I used to have really bad relationship with food, stuck into a restrictive/binge circle.. about 2 month ago i completely stopped restricting myself, i eat 3 (healthy) meals a day with snacks, try to workout 3-4 times a week and do daily walks. Even tho i eat a lot more than i used to, i dont gain weight (but im not skinny either) but, all i know is that i feel good in my skin and this is all that should ! Also, if i have something sweet or processed, it doesn’t replace a meal its always something additional! Small steps is what helps improving everything on the long term :)

So, back to the basics with "diet and exercise"

This won’t be very helpful to people who seriously want to lose a lot of weight. Sure, eating enough plays a big part in losing weight, but those kind of videos are a major trigger to overeat. Telling people to eat a lot and don’t care won’t make them lose weight, in fact, it can trigger them to overeat because they see you being so skinny and eating a lot. Yes, you don’t ever want to starve yourself, but also you need to be mindful of your calorie intake when trying to lose weight. It’s not going to work if you just eat way over your maintenance and think it’s for „nourishing your body”. These videos are showing people that by eating a lot you will lose weight. Yes, but only if you are able burn it off and stay in a deficit. Let’s not brainwash people.

It's great to encourage people to eat in your comment, but unless you had a serious thyroid issue or medical problem it's impossible to gain weight from only broccoli unless it was over your calorie maintaining limit. At which case, broccoli would not be the problem. Starvation mode plays a part in what your body can do, but it cannot change thermodynamics. I believed that too and it stopped me from eating anything, it's just not how it works.

Gained fat by eating broccoli? Did I hear that right? I have a hard time believing that

Has she ever posted her stomach AFTER eating? Because it's normal to not have a flat stomach at night and then wake up with one again but she makes it sound like she has one 24/7🙄

Did people just completely miss strength training 4-5 times a week?

I'm muscular and neither chubby or skinny. All I can say is everyone is different, don't follow anyone advice, found your way of doing it.
I stay lean, by weight training one hour a day, I eat a lot but mostly proteine and fiber things (so a lot of meat/tofu and vegetables) Cake, burgers etc are ONLY if I'm out, so yeah my friends can think I eat a LOOT of "unhealthy" things, but it's not true. Sometimes I do intermittent fasting if I ate to much or If I know I'm going to eat to much.
However don't follow this. You are you, I'm me. My solution is not your solution, Her solution is also not your solution.
You need to found peace with yourself, you deserve to eat and also our body deserve to not be treated like a trash can.
Goodluck.

Folks, I'm skinny as well and when I go out I often eat A LOT. Everyone is surprised on my shape. Wanna know my 2 secrets?

1. "Only eat a lot when it's worth it". Going out? Having icecream with my friends? Special occasion? I go for it! Some days I can easily go up to 2300 kcal. But on average days, when I'm home alone and on the go, most of my meals are veggies and proteins. An average meal is about 300/500 kcal. I don't always eat that much, and neither does her.

2. Active lifestyle. In a week I do about 5hr of active exercise, because I'd rather bike to work than going by car and I hit the gym a couple times a week.

That's pretty much it.

Oh, and avoid sugar. Unless it's in something you REALLY love, don't have sugar. Great homemade cake? Fill your plate. Cheap whatevercookie/poor snak/dumbsugardrink? Don't even look at it.

I used to be like that too. Eat and gain a tonne of weight. But during lockdown I started intermittent fasting and worked out almost everyday. My metabolism increased so much that now I can eat anything and everything without gaining that easily. Currently I don’t actively do intermittent fasting but I still do strength training 4 times a week and I go for walks as a form of cardio 2 times a week.

Its also more expensive to eat healthier. When i stopped eating boxed macncheese, hamburger helper, ramen, pb&j, my grocery bills basically tripled. Now im buying more veggies, fruits, chicken, eggs and that really adds up every week- and its even more wasteful because fresh fruits and veggies go bad in the fridge fast

my best friend eats so much unhealthy food and she gets surprised when i tell her that my parents dont allow me to eat as much as her. whats even more surprising is that shes in really good shape and has no skin problems! i eat relatively healthy and i'm a little chubby with acne. genetics are a pain in the ass

having a flat stomach is a combination of genetics, exercising very consistently, and being on a caloric deficit (but obviously eating enough protein). anyone who tells you that you can eat a certain way and just constantly have a flat stomach though, is wrong. flat stomachs really only appear for most “skinny” people in the morning, before the stomach expands to carry food and water. and that’s totally fine! I’ve been slim all my life but have always wondered why I have a lil lower belly pouch. I exercise 5 days a week with strength training and eat whatever I want (as long as I eat protein), and I only have visible definition on my stomach in the morning shortly before I eat anything. it is unrealistic for the average person to aim for a constantly flat stomach (it doesn’t exist!) and for a “perfect” physique when we all have jobs, school, and other things to do besides working out and cooking very healthy meals all the time. we will never look like supermodels or YouTube beauty gurus, AND THAT IS FINE! even with a lil belly pooch everyone is beautiful (and some nice well-fitting high rise jeans can tuck you in nicely!)
