I really enjoy your videos. I'm 65 and started playing 2 years ago. My advice is to have your guitar setup so the strings aren't too high, correct technique, and practice, practice, practice. When you try to practice and nothing seems to go right, STOP and try again later. It's easy to pick up bad habits trying to force yourself through a bad practice session which you will eventually have to break.

The holding orange hand position " changed my life" I'm terms of playing guitar. I have been struggling with touching other strings for months and months and I really I wanted to give up. I heard about curling the fingers tips a lot but I just didn't fully register how to properly curl the fingers until I saw your video about the holding orange tip. I tried your tips tonight and first time ever I string a clean string. Thank you so much!!

Thanks for posting these videos for us to learn from. I'm 55 and working through my 2nd week of self taught guitar. I'm working on learning some chords and definitely struggling with my fingers hitting the wrong strings. I'm looking forward to trying the things you taught in this and the fat finger video.

This was incredible! I have almost the smallest hands about the size of a 6 year old and I’m 12 and these tips helped me significantly, I have just started! Thank you!

ive been playing bass for a few years now, and ive really enjoyed it. i tried guitar before, but i just couldnt get clean chords. i always blamed it on small hands, because my fingers are so short that they barely touch at the widest part of the neck. but its stupid to blame small hands, because ive been playing piano since i was 4 and dispite my tiny hands, i can easily play octaves because i just grew up forcing my hands to be flexible. i dont have my bass anymore, it belonged to a family friend who recently wanted it back, so now i have my guitar just staring back at me, begging me to play again. im used to the weight of bass strings, so these feel like nothing to hold, but somehow chords are still hard to play. i think its because with bass, i wasnt punished for having my thumb on top of the neck instead of behind it, because i could use 2 fingers to hold a string if i needed it, but now i need 1 finger per string and even using 2, it sounds tinny and hollow, so im glad i watched this video to remind me to have good hand posture

Again I thank you for your videos. It's getting better, but I now need a few days off because I might have a few blisters. What has helped me is standing in front of a mirror so I can see what my fingers are doing and focusing on keeping the tips of my fingers on the string. It's amazing that after starting 3 days ago I can play the chords from Hotel California clearly. I am a LONG way off from putting it all together. I have a local guitar instructor willing to take on a lefty. I will be checking out your material because you have the gift of teaching. Thank yewww so much for sharing your gift!!!

Hi Tomas - love your videos - thanks! Can you give some advice regarding finger pressure? I started playing three weeks ago (I’m 49) and I’ve been practicing every day and watching a lot of instructional videos. One thing I’ve begun to notice is that experienced guitarists seem to have a very light touch when fingering chords and it made me wonder if my difficulties in getting my chords “clean” are due to too much finger pressure and/or having soft finger tips?
