He was helping a search and rescue team recover a body when his chopper blade caught a safety rope.

There have been a few rescues like this against the rock face of Table Mountain in Cape Town.

I know just a little bit about flying Helos. The most impressive thing here is how stable he is hovering like that off an uneven surface. I cannot understate how goddamn hard that is. Amazing pilot

Man... the skill alone involved with approaching a cliff sideways and then hovering so close to the people being collected that they can hop in the chopper’s side door is super human. Massive props on the save to the gun pilot!

Who could have possibly seen that coming? A rope dangling just a few feet away from the rotors? Yes the pilot did very good rescue but the team should have secured the rope down by pinning a few carabineers to the mountain face and ledge before the chopper came in for the pickup.

That was a crappy presentation that left of me with a ton of unanswered questions. You said the rescuers tumble down the rocks - that was more like a cliff did they fall off a cliff? There’s no way 7 rescuers can fit on that aircraft & with a body - are the seven that you are referring to that were saved by the pilot include the four (three on the wine with the body and one belay at the top of the cliff) that were on the ground? Normally ground crews find the body prepare it for transport then the helicopter comes and picks it up the body and the ground crew stays on the ground.
