I really like your attitude. Open, friendly and inviting. Just great. The world needs much more people like you.
You are a rolemodel for Youtube.

Thanks for sharing all your knowledge with us. I am currently in the process of restoring a 55 Commander and watch your videos over and over. You are very methodical and informative. Keep it up and never delete these!

Pete What can I say! I have only recently begun to do my own form of study on the various YouTube channels. I look upon you as lord and master of all you survey. Your attention to detail is outstanding and yet delivered in an manner that's very down to earth. I know nothing about my own V8 and your very quickly imparting so much knowledge my way. I feel like a little boy watching and listening to the adults talk. The only way I can repay you for all your tutorials is to subscribe to your channel. Peter you deliver all your information in a very patient and measured manner, you never rush and your always very calm and in control. I can't thank you enough, don't laugh but I didn't sleep last night and I watched your entire engine strip down and rebuild from beginning to end.
All the very best and my respects from across the pond in Scotland

Great video! That seems like quite a complex carb design. Makes me appreciate the simplicity the Holley 4160 I rebuilt.

Pete, the best tip in the whole video was put a white sheet over your table. I've rebuild hundreds of carburetors and I sure wish I would have done that back in the day when rebuilding carburetors was something I did routinely. The guy that taught me carb rebuilding, Clem Zahrobsky of Delmont, PA, told me that the cardinal rule was NEVER EVER REMOVE THE THROTTLE PLATE SCREWS. There is absolutely no reason to ever do that to begin with and secondly it's a PIA to do since they should be staked, or at least they were on every Rochester 2 bbl and Quadrajet I ever worked on, so you had to grind off the staked part of the screws to take them off and use new screws and then stake them when you put the throttle plates back on. As you mentioned, they are precision fit devices, and removing them was simply asking for trouble. Why do you think the previous rebuilder removed the throttle plates? There is nothing to be gained by doing so, and as you found out, a lot to lose.

Thanks for another informative video Pete. I am looking forward seeing you rebuild an FE engine.

IDLE mixture screws are used only to adjust idle mixture and if the butterfly plates completely close the engine will stall as shown by IDLE speed adjustment screw used to hold engine idle speed regulated by amount of butterfly plates opening -

That was interesting Pete..I've not seen that carb on any cars here...There were some oldies that had Carter carbs but not like that one.

Hey Pete,

It's really interesting to see something different than all the small block Chevy stuff. I don't have much experience with Studebakers but I was really impressed by how "overbuilt" this engine was. They really put a lot of effort into it when they designed it. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. I really enjoy them! You have a great shop too. I hope to have something like it someday. Keep up the good work.

Nice videos.
Carburators are very complicated.
Have a VARAJET carburator from the Kadett to rebuild, and 2 WEBBER 40 DCOE.
Have the rebuild kits for them, but affraid to start disassembling .

Hey Pete. Recent subscriber here. I've learned something new on EVERY video I've watched so far. I am particularly impressed with your thoroughness, not only in your work but in your explanations. I have a 1965 Ford Galaxie 500, FE 352 Automatic that I bought 3 years ago. The previous owner tried to rebuild the stock carburetor but was never able to get it running quite right so he replaced it with an Edelbrock. After watching this video, I think I am comfortable enough to see if I can diagnose what the problem was with the stock carb. At least I can't make it any worse, right? Thanks for your dedication and inspiration. P.S. As a High School Industrial Technology instructor (formerly known as shop teacher), I can say that you would be an awesome teacher yourself, if you were willing to take a bit of a pay cut. Keep up the good work my friend.

In my opinion, the best thing to hold small parts is a tackle box for fishing.
