What's happening, people! I'm back with another Keane reaction from their 2004 album Hopes and Fears, and this time we listen to the remarkable tune "Untitled 1," an intriguing name for a tune that does indeed have lyrics (not to mention great vocals and production as per usual with what I've heard on this album). So join me as we continue the Keane journey. Cheers, and shout-out to both Adam and Philip!

Oh I love this one. It's so beautiful and haunting.

But the next one - Bedshaped - it blows me away every time. Probably one of my favourite songs of all time. Looking forward to your reaction to that one.

Am I really the first to comment here? 😳 Where are the Keane fans?
Well, I had to click on this when I saw the (Untitled) title, I seemed to remember it was a special song for me. I couldn't remember how it went (being Untitled, it's almost impossible to recall anything about it from the title 😜) and it's been more than a decade since I last heard it, but it's amazing how it immediately brought back a feeling - the way I felt last time I heard it. At that time I was feeling extremely low and had a broken heart, so not only the sonics seemed to fit my mood but the lyrics too. And I was even proud to be "cold inside", that's what I needed after feeling "too much". I managed it so well that I learned to not feel too much again (not for people, at least).
Hearing it today made me remember your latest Morten reaction, "When I Reached The Moon". I had never made the connection, because when Morten's album came out in 2012 I had stopped listening to Keane many years ago, but now when I heard those lyrics that were so meaningful to me once ("Who ate your heart? / You're cold inside") I remembered Morten's "When I reached the moon it turned to stone", the expression of a reality that was not what was expected, echoed in Keane's "You're not the one I hoped for". I have no clue what "I'll see you on the other side" is supposed to mean, though. 😜
I guess you can see now how Tom's vocals are reminiscent of Morten's, and it was the main reason why I bought Keane's album. The way he stretches the notes, I am noticing now, is also a Morten characteristic. Yes, no wonder many a-ha fans are also Keane fans. (I don't count myself among those, I am far from being a Keane fan. Just to make myself clear. 😁 I am an a-ha fan and no one else's.)

Another track with really interesting synth accents to draw you along with the ethereal vocals. It's a haunting and introspective song that explores themes of loss, emptiness, and unrequited love. The lyrics depict a sense of longing for someone who has changed or become distant. The lyrics at the smooth floaty part are:
The wind wouldn't blow me home,
To lie in your heart of hearts,
Will I ever see you again,
And lie in your heart of hearts?

The 2nd album is very much in the style of this track 👍🏻. Can't wait for you to do Bedshaped next, a truly remarkable song.
