It is irritating when people in the comments mention that they cannot get the jump quite right and then the “helpful” response is “Go resonate with Geo”.
The whole fucking point of this is not to have to resonate with geo so that advice is simply not helpful.
I cannot tell whether the backwards jump is still possible as of the current game build so I have no way of actually knowing whether my attempts to perform the jump are doomed to fail regardless.
So if you actually want to help, I am open to any response besides “go resonate with geo”

i killed the primo geovishap and a few other bosses out of pure rage
i've wasted 3 hours trying to do this and watched so many videos help

Thanks, finally got it! Took +- 8hrs, but it's possible. I didn't wanna spec as Geo. Definitely not counting this as a spoiler either... it doesn't detract from the immense frustration when you get the first backwards wing jump and fail the second. I had also already worked out that that pilar was the one, and that I needed to pull off a backward jump of some kind, just didn't realise pressing down was the ticket. Prior to watching this vid, I was trying the same but with the fall button.
