NASA's Nuclear Space Reactor Is Engineering Genius.
Popular culture has long celebrated the idea of humans landing and colonizing the moon, to varying degrees of success and danger. All the way back in 1902, Georges Melies’ short film, A Trip to the Moon, showcased a future where Earthlings landed and tried to live peacefully only to be met with harsh resistance from native aliens.

Yes, we have always had a fascination with the long term presence on the moon yet it has never come to be. While it seemed that things were headed in that direction in the 1960s, at the height of the space race, the moon was only visited briefly. The idea of massive, futuristic moon bases filled with everyday citizens has so far remained a fantasy left in books and movies.

But that doesn’t mean there isn’t still a chance of lunar bases in the future. In fact, NASA is currently putting together ambitious plans to create a safe, sound moon base that will be inhabited by humans and will also help propel the people of Earth to Mars and beyond. So what power source are they looking to use to get this moon base up and running? None other than nuclear power. That’s right, the future on the moon is so bright, it’s downright nuclear.

This article bonces between 70-year-old apples and 20-year-old oranges.

@Voyager
4:00 the lunar night may take a fortnight - but then so does the lunar day.

Conclusion: The factor that you emphasize is insignifiant.

Lets hope they have worked on the possibility of a thorium Reactor rather than a Uranium but doesn't matter if they haven't as China will switch there thorium power station on in September 2021 and then we will find out if it really is 240 times more powerful than Uranium reactor :)

10KW isnt much. This is just around 45 Amps in civilized world, 90 Amps in america. Maybe enough for 2 households.

Serious would be 2022. Give Elon the blueprint's and watch it blast into orbit and on it's way by 2022 minimum. That's why one space agency recruit's another, because their better.

The moon offers a paradise location for solar energy…there is no need for nuclear power at all…

i think nasa need to factor in the fact that any thing nuclear (safer are not) shouldn't come close to our one and only moon do these things on mars first and also need to be reminded that some other nations of this earth are not their friend.
