========= A Lifetime Of War LYRICS ==========

Two ways to view the world so similar at times

Two ways to rule the world to justify their crimes
By kings and queens young men are sent to die in war
Their propaganda speaks those words been heard before

Two ways to view the world brought Europe down in flames
Two ways to rule

Has man gone insane?
A few will remain
Who’ll find a way
To live one more day
Through decades of war
It spreads like disease,
There’s no sign of peace
Religion and greed
Cause millions to bleed
Three decades of war

From dawn to dawn they’re fighting,
Die where they stand
The fog of war lies thick
When armies scorch the land.
When all of Europe’s burning
What can be done?
They’ve been to war a decade,
Two more to come

Long way from home
Döpas och dö I strid
Lifetime at war

Has man gone insane?
A few will remain
Who’ll find a way
To live one more day
Through decades of war.
It spreads like disease,
There’s no sign of peace.
Religion and greed
Cause millions to bleed.
Three decades of war.

When they face death they’re all alike
No right or wrong, rich or poor
No matter who they served before
Good or bad, they’re all the same
Rest side by side now

========= Historic Fact ==========

On May 23, 1618, the Bohemians went up against the Habsburg rule and threw imperial officials out of the window, marking the start of the 30 Years' War – a violent, bloody, disease-ridden war.

Sabaton, I don’t know if you will see this, but hello my name is Ibrahim. I am from Yemen and now live in Egypt. This song hits me hard, very hard, especially the lyric “Religion and greed cause millions to bleed”. I have experienced this firsthand, having suffered through much of the Yemeni civil war, a war about religion and greed. This song made me tear up even a little. Thank you sabaton. You guys rock.

I am from Sumy, Ukraine. And I think I will remember a moment from that war forever. When electricity was gone for a very long time, and I was lying on a couch in my headphones with my phone at about 12% charge hoping that it'll last until lights will go back on, and I was listening to that song. Just when I thought that there was no hope for electricity today, and it will probably go on only tomorrow. But the lights went back on right at the moment that song started playing! I had a feeling that I can't really explain. I felt happiness because of the lights, sadness because of the war, and now I guess I will remember this song for that moment forever. Thanks Sabaton for releasing these songs!

I'm so happy you guys are releasing newer lyrics videos of older songs! It's an amazing way to show newer fans some of the older ones, and to give older fans some nostalgia! Hope we'll get Carolean's Prayer soon! Salutations from Denmark! Keep being awesome ^^

The only criticism of Sabaton I can possibly make is that they make it so very hard for me to pick a definitive favorite song out of all of their stellar pieces. They combine my love of history with the power and beauty of metal, so how can I possibly pick a single favorite, or even a single handful when all of their work deserves such high honor and praise? :)

Released on the anniversary of the Treaty of Westphalia, which ended the Thirty Years War. Well played gentlemen. Well played.👍

This is, without a shadow of a doubt, my favorite Sabaton song. It has everything that a Sabaton song should, and is just perfect in every way.

I love how the song is hopeful and optimistic that mankind will survive through the horrors it creates but only to the end of creating more war later on.

I know this song is about the 30 years' war, but it really applies to any war in history, and it hits you like a punch to the gut, man. i don't know how to not cry when listening to this. respect to sabaton, and to all the people who died in war.

This has to be the one of the most devastating conflicts in human history in terms of how many died considering the population of Europe around that time. Sabaton sums this conflict up perfectly, gives me chills every time thinking about it.

The amount of passion and emotion that Sabaton put into the Carolus Rex album, as seen in songs like this, is why I consider it their true magnum opus, a masterpiece they will never be able to top
