From what I understand, no matter how they may try to sugar-coat it, they are essentially saying Yay didn't have the performance that justifies his salary and is only needlessly costing the org in the long-term.
Furthermore, they are admitting their mistake in building this specific roster where the roles of each player is not clear.
As a fan, I feel like they done Yay dirty.

What I got from the video: yay's mentality is so much more mature than his teammates because he has been to the highest levels. he doesn't laugh when he loses (like the rest of C9 did when they got stomped by DRX) and he doesn't trash talk when he wins (like the rest of C9 did against PRX). he's been there before, under the bright lights and in the high pressure situations, and he acts like it. Several times throughout the DRX series you can see on his facecam that he looks incredibly fed up with how his team are acting, both when they were winning Pearl and getting stomped on the other 2 maps. This video makes it seem like C9 and yay had a mutual parting of ways, but from the evidence previously stated, it seems yay knew that the mentality of his teammates and him did not match, and that he wasn't gonna find success with them this year, so why waste the time. I had C9 pegged as the 3rd best team in NA (behind NRG and 100T), but I think they'll actually be closer to the bottom. They give off immature streamer vibes. which would be fine if that's what they were, but they're a franchised org, so they should start acting like it. Not trying to be too harsh, but this team is like watching a bunch of man-children with their one mature friend (yay) trying to get them to stop being obnoxious in public. All the best for yay I hope the best player in the game doesn't have to sit out a full year or play in tier 2, but only time will tell.

First it was TenZ, now it is Yay. C9 literally just gave up two insanely talented players wow. Well done guys.

No explanation needed. It was very clear watching them play DRX. Yay cares about losing. It upsets him. Hes starving to win and dominate. The rest of the roster was laughing at being absolutely pummeled. Personally, I don't see how the CEO doesn't see it as disrespectful. He's paying those guys a lot of money and their job is in fact to win valorant games.

So none of the players are safe from getting dropped by the org, and they think yay was a bad fit anyway. Nice team management

Hello, Cloud 9 Valorant! My name is Nathan and I would like to put my name forward for consideration. I am currently hard-stuck gold, but I did peak at plat 2! I know that that in and of itself is not impressive, I think that I could impress you with my willingness to learn and have a positive attitude. In the video you expressed that you are not exactly sure what the role of the new player that would need, and I feel that I would be a very fluid addition, as I am equally good (mediocre) at all of the roles, so my contribution would not diminish because of changing roles. I am also open to relocating since I live in the worst place in America (Bismarck, North Dakota). I hope this finds you in good spirits. Go c9.

Huge bidding war for Yay, C9 pays up, Yay takes their offer, they play 2 matches, they drop him cuz too expensive (and role issues, also their fault). I love mce but this def feels like they stole an opportunity for Yay during rostermania to drop him almost immediately, when otherwise he would have definitely been picked up by another franchise team. That’s much less likely now and his options will be far more limited.

I don’t disagree with their reasoning but they should have considered the cost and role issues before signing Yay in the first place, this is not new information.

this is the team that made franchising over optic LMAO

So role issues as expected, but why even pick him up in the first place. Isn't that just bad foresight from the managment and coaches. Also, why did they still use chamber when he sucks so badly in this patch, isn't the agent composition of the team also on the coach in this circumstance, at least partially. Yay has played agents other than chamber and jett... The money issue was completely ignored in the video, but they didn't want to look shallow I guess.

This makes little sense to me, I'd rather see them drop the entire c9 roster than yay, seeing how the rest of the c9 roster has seen little to no success internationally and yay has been dominant as he has been with Optic/NV.

As a yay fan, I felt like yay picked the wrong org. I'm sure yay is friends and loves everyone on the set, but when it comes to the actual tournament, one is serious, and the rest aren't.

Edit: We all know the reason boils down to the cost and expectations of yay. I just hope he got some compensation at least.

TLDR: "YAY was really good. So we decided to part ways"

yay is a great player but no one on this team who can bring his true power, can not set him up like how fns did. Yay might need to find a new home whose IGL sets him in a perfect place. C9 had an insane player (tenz) and history repeating itself cannot bring the 2 insane players to their true potential.
