So great to get this kind of insight from someone actually playing in the tournament as it happens. I'm old enough to remember the days when chess coverage was limited to a dry chess column in the newspaper consisting of little more than a ton of notation.

Hikaru: "I'm not gonna study that much for this tournament".
Also Hikaru: plays half the match within preparation.

Obviously the stockfish is on the ceiling and not in his wallet.

FIDE officials should act within their jurisdiction. Without any reason basically doubting someone for cheating, right before the game begins, isn't considerate at all

The insight you give in these videos is amazing. Basically like free chess lessons. I’ve always been weaker on strategy than tactics so it’s so helpful to listen to the analysis of a strategic genius

5:40 I like how he was reluctant to say the word ‘game’ twice

I've never seen anyone completely disarm everyone while playing with the black pieces... You literally have the best content in the internet ❤️🔥

Great tournament so far Hikaru! I see myself cheering more for you than for any of my favourite national or international football teams. Please keep your good mood, we support you no matter what result. It‘s insane to learn about your thinking process. It is as if Ronaldo, Messi or Neymar explain us exactly why they play the way they play in a world cup match

How do you have the stamina to record for YouTube after playing the match?! Just Amazing! Thanks for the wonderful content!

Thank you so much for hammering these out during the candidates! Legendary

As a FIDE official, we of course had to check if he didn't write 'mate him' or 'take the juicer' on his credit card.

I marvel at the volume of thought displayed here, and recalled, and crammed into a few hours, unfathomable.

Hikaru is doing more for chess interest than anything else. I find myself looking forward to every match and interested in the results.

Its so awesome to see content like this from an ongoing candidates match. I've read lots of books covering the history of the world chess championship, but this real time commentary takes the cake! Thank you Hikaru.

Hikaru discussing his candidate games reminds me of exam toppers who discuss the question paper with their friends, immediately after the exam.

Thanks GM Hikaru, it’s pretty crazy to have you doing these breakdowns the very day you play the game. Best of luck against Nepo, he’s playing amazingly.
