The TruTuner does actually work for 12 lug marching snares. I actually have one, and it has 12 holes, but it only came with 10 keys and I had to buy 2 extras TruTuner keys. But like you experienced with the tenors, it doesnt really work for removing heads, but it does kind of work when starting heads back on and getting even tension around

I will say as a percussion major in college we have a lot of students that come in from high school that have terrible stick Heights and they don't know how to control them well

Not that i would recommend it, but a drill would be faster to change the heads as opposed to that device. Just saying...
