Sir, why vdp work has negative sign for expansion process and and positive vdp for compression process? Plz clear my doubt.

Thanks for the video professor. You derived the Gibbs equation for a closed system but here it was applied to an open system. How is this reconciled?

@Ron Hugo. Assuming a compressor runs from startup. Molecules first compress before air displacement takes place. So if we consider the partial diffential of flow work. dPv = Pdv + vdP. How would you determine the flow work if fluid would be compressible. Change in P and v. This puzzles me about the gibbs equation because the flow energy in a closed piston chlinder device for isothermal process using vdP yields the same result and Pdv. And yet we use Pdv as internally reversible for closed systems.
