*Even before watching the video, I already knew the answer:* injuries and an old roster full of vets who were exiting their primes and at the end of the road who finally got their rings.

It’s weird looking back at this era considering it’s been almost 20 years.

The Heat getting destroyed by the Bulls in the first game of the '06-07 season 108-66 (at home no less) was an eerie sign of things to come.

That 08-09 season was crazy for D-Wade. Truly a MVP caliber season and the one that cements him as an all time great, given that all his championships happened with superstars next to him. He proved he can lead the league in scoring while being very effective as a guard and staying available.

Walker saying he shoots so many 3s because there aint no 4s is friggin hilarious 😂😂😂

As a Heat fan who remembers this championship, the ‘06 team has to be one of the ones with the lowest “repeat potential” in modern NBA history. Outside of Wade/Haslem, much of the squad was old and nearly all of them were out of the league by 2011, including Shaq. Maybe if the Heat won in 2005, they could’ve repeated, but that ‘06 team was destined to be one-and-done, Shaq was declining fast

That shoulder injury to Wade sealed it.

Considering that they had former all-stars and White Chocolate past their prime, it's amazing that Wade carried them to the championship. He gave famous chucker Antione Walker a ring. One of the best carry jobs no doubt. As you said @AndyHoops, injuries caused the team to regress quickly from NBA champions to a lowered seeded team that either didn't make it past the first round or missed the playoffs. The parallels between the 06 Heat and the 11 Mavs is not lost on us.

Imagine going from Horrible to Championship and back to Horrible in a 5-year span 🧐

I will forever feel that Wade should’ve won that mvp in 09. I was a very biased Lebron fan growing up but I won’t deny that incredible season Wade had fresh off that shoulder injury and Olympic medal

Injuries and an old roster. I honestly think that they would have reached the 2004/05 finals against the Spurs if Wade didn't get injured against the Pistons.

Wade was face of the nba in the late 2000s alongside Kobe and LeBron, should been league mvp in 2009.

It must be really sad to see that Heat team not repeat and it wasn't until LeBron is their best player when they did just that.

It's funny that the Mavs went through a similar path as the 2006 Heat after winning the title in 2011.

Andy Hoops I dk how old you are gang but Wade legacy is never in question. He brought the Heat to the ECF in his second year, then won it the next year. LeBron needed him to win.

getting blown out at home by 40 plus points on ring and banner night was a bad omen

D Wade my favorite player ever, but it do bother me when people leave him out of those What If conversations. He truly was a top 3 player in his prime, at times looking like the #1 . He already considered to be the 3rd best shooting guard ever, If that knee injury wasn’t a thing, who knows how great he’d be .

yeah, but were we able to accept the fact that 2006 was 18 years ago ??? time flies

08-09 season was crazy, and has carried Wade's legacy a bit too much in the pre Heatles era. Sadly he missed on an MVP due to playing in a league with one of the GOATs in his athletic prime doing even more magnificent things.

I was a little sad when Dwyane Wade was traded from the Miami Heat to the Chicago Bulls in 2016.
Still, I was very happy when he retired with the Heat in 2019.

It's amazing what happens when you get written out of the script.
