This movie's opening is a lesson in how to make a simple situation, like Black Friday, so intense even before all hell breaks loose. I remember being on the edge of my seat even before all the people rushed into the store.

The granddaughters screaming at their impaled grandfather is probably the most effed up kill I've seen

6:21 I love that actual teenagers helped with the dialogue for the teenage characters. When movies do that, the dialogue feels more realistic and less “how do you do, fellow kids?” It also makes me more invested in the characters because I feel like they’re actually real people and not caricatures of teenagers. So shoutout to this movie for doing that.

8:33 On Black Friday 2008, 34 yr old Walmart employee, Jdimytai Damour, was asked by his employer to use his 6’5 body as a barrier for a crowd of over 2, 000 people. He died that day after being trampled by the crowd. The shoppers were not concerned about his death, and even complained of waiting too long.

First rule of screenwriting: The character that says "Don't trust anyone" is almost always the villain. If anyone says it to you in real life, get ready to run.

Was one of the 600 outside and 200. I walked away from this set with bruises, but my god, I would do it again.

The best was the practical door when it came down on doug and watching the woman get scalped to death. Seeing the stuff live was absolutely the coolest part and made the four nights on set amazing.

What was also fun was that between takes and on break, we all went shopping as the manager of the store had to be therr for security reasons, so he just opened the till.

This review made me so happy because I absolutely loved being apart of it and i think this film deserves all the praise and love it can get!

Fun facts, 1: manny’s cat is played by tonic who was church in the pet semetary remake, Milo Mannheim who plays Dillon is mainly well known for playing zed in Disney channel’s zombies movies and show

*"Chelsea! You live here with me!"* best line ever

The "you on candid camera now" reference from Scary Movie absolutely KILLED me. Brenda quotes are part of my regular vocabulary.

4:35 I like how at the very beginning it tells you who the murderer is just by the opening shot and we the audience just ignore it

27:02 “CHELSEA YOU LIVE HERE WITH ME!” I think i laughed too hard at that lol

I’m actually glad Thomas lived, you rarely get to see that character make it through a movie like this, he’s usually used as a kill to upset the protagonist.

It definitely helps that he found redemption, too.

The scariest part of the whole supermarket massacre was the complete apathy and carelessness of the shoppers while people were dying around them… and all for a damn *WAFFLE MAKER*

Hubby and I watched this yesterday partially for the Kill Count and partially for my late brother who loved the Grindhouse trailer and wanted to see a feature length version.

We both had a good time with it and we think my brother would have loved it.

there’s so many things I love about this movie. the opening “killer” reveal, the realistic reactions to that final thanksgiving meal, the creative kills. it’s by no means a perfect movie but as a slasher fan it’s become one of my favorites

Carver feeding the cat has to be the most wholesome thing in the whole movie

As someone who grew up in the same area of Massachusetts as Eli Roth, this movie is SUCH a treat. The over the top accents and “masshole” attitudes are on point, the reverence for the holiday in the area, the decor lol
It really felt like a hometown horror for me and I couldn’t love that more!! Probably my favorite Roth movie tbh

Edit: S/O to the moment with the cat where he just pets it, made me love him and root for him lol

The forshadowing in this movie is insane

From the opening pov shot from the killer's pov to Jessica showing him the security photos literally telling him who he should kill and him telling Kathleen she'll make an excellent dinner

And misdericts with baseballs falling on the floor when Kathleen is trying to hide making us think it's Bobby

Wait. 2 annoying boyfriends, a girlfriend who's over it all, a holiday disaster, and a killer wanting revenge. Is this just My Bloody Valentine of the fall?

AND the killer gets away in a fireman's uniform? My Bloody Valentine 3D

This is probably my favorite holiday horror movie ever! I thought it was really well-done with lots of amazing kills. Kathleen's death is probably my favorite because of the entire sequence. The way she was able to avoid the killer for as long as she did before getting caught was such an suspenseful and amazingly done scene. Plus, the cast is incredible!
