Well, yea, if you throw enough rockets and astronauts at a space program, at some point one of them will survive so you can call it an achievement...
In that respect, Gagarin was a total hero, knowing that everybody before him got blown to tiny bits.

Yuri was just the first to survive. Its a tragic story about two best friends. Each trying to save each other from launching on a craft with over 260 known flaws. A report that was written by Yuri himself. Yuri would have wanted recognition to go to his best friend… Vladimir Komarov. He sacrificed himself to save Yuri. RIP to all involved and thank you for your sacrifice. Additionally the Russian didnt add numbers to their mission names until after the mission was successful. Also research Vladimir Ilyushin.

0:11 "first human to leave earth orbit" is clearly incorrect. Perhaps it is meant to say "first human to leave earth" but that's somewhat inaccurate or ambiguous. 0:32 "... making a single orbit around the earth."
