He probably made the call to the cops saying there was a motorcycle on the other side of town while the whole time he was hiding in the grove. Big brain move

I took a law enforcement class in high school. The instructor (former Costa Mesa cop) told me that he once chased a motorcyclist into a parking structure in the early hours. He gets in over a minute later - due to the speed gap - and the guy was sitting down next to his bike with his helmet sitting there and the bike off. He was able to get the charges dropped in court when his attorney essentially casted even the slightest bit of doubt that it was ABSOLUTELY him driving. Things like radio calls were introduced calling his jacket brown when it was dark orange - things like that. It was fascinating. The best thing you can do is hit a tunnel they won't follow you into,
