The problem here is that he doesn't get that philosophy has nothing to do with making progress or proving things like science does, because it doesn't need to progress. It's all about developing specialist skills like how to ask the right questions and to perform extensive reasoning. Science is just one of the tools used by philosophy to find an answer. So basically science is only a sub-department of philosophy and hereby submissive to it

I think this should be more motivation to actually learn if Philosophy is all about Questioning and Speculating or also for answering and Yes, it is true that Science emerge from Philosophy because of a Civilization being aware of what us and what nature and the universe. It is until and end of the Scientific revolution throughout the 19th century at least sometimes of its era where Philosophy is almost interchangeable to Science but now it is looking like our culture as a society to pursuit rationality and knowledge or culture of Science and its history. That being said Science is in fully emergence and independent of itself that it doesn't need Philosophy anymore, in sense of advancement and discoveries but rather Philosophy— in relation to Society and its consequences (likewise humanity). I think we need to address on using Philosophy to full of its potential and actually merging with Science to enrich its best potential and our society to prosper. Of course with consequences a long the way whether good or bad which could be subjective.

He is absolutely correct. Philosophy is most certainly dead. It's quite humorous to me that philosophy asks all these "profound" questions, and yet has to have science answer those questions for them. What a pathetic discipline philosophy is.

Yes, Stephen, we know you wrote A Brief History of Time. You remind us again and agin. Philosphy is above Science. Meaning its reflections guide the coarse in which Philosophy goes. Hell, Einstein read and certainly familar of Kat. Hume inspired Newton and Leibniz.

And you wre brilliant a genius, Stephen. No one will ever, ever deny that fact. But is not a little arrogant to think where Physics has gone and will eventually goes is know owed even in some little degree to Philosophy.
