Dynasty Warriors NEXT - Two Forces Map | Conquest Mode
Показать описание
This is one of the more interesting modes in NEXT. Conquest Mode is basically Empires-lite. And as you may have noticed, there's a Create-a-Warrior mode in the game. You unlock CAW parts as you rank up naturally, so you can make better looking CAWs the more you play. I still didn't have all the parts unlocked by the time I got around to playing this game type.
You can make a ton of CAWs, but I settled on just making a few of my regular ones I make in every Warriors game and some ones I came up with on the spot. There's 10 unique voice types in the game so I made a CAW for each of them, to give a chance to hear some of these exceptionally rare lines. I play as a force comprised of them for this video and the next.
Conquest Mode itself plays differently than regular Empires. There's these strategy cards you can use like in Campaign Mode of course, and that's basically all the game has for strategic stuff. No forming alliance or anything like that. Just attack the enemy and events may trigger at random. You can get a good or bad governance rating depending on these events but it mostly just affects some other random events that may or may not trigger and get a line from your ruler commenting on how they rule.
The most awkward thing about it is that each territory has a level to it, and if your level isn't higher than an adjacent enemy territory, then you can't invade that turn. One front-line territory randomly levels up per turn to keep yourself from getting softlocked. You get no choice when it comes to attacking, if you can invade, you HAVE to invade. And if you get invaded, well, tough. You can't choose to defend, you will always lose the territory. So yeah, kind of awkward.
Looking at these CAWs, doesn't it bug you how we have all these voice lines for them and they're in THIS game? They brought the whole cast back to voice in this too. They could have brought them all back for DW7:Empires instead and we get THAT game dubbed instead of this Vita exclusive title no one but the most diehard of fans actually played. Or they could have voiced Empires anyways since half of the work was already done by having CAW voices and stuff like recruitment lines already voiced!
But oh well, it's long past the point of complaining of Koei getting stingy on the dubbing now. It just irks me seeing all this effort put into this and knowing most people will never see it.
