Canada's downfall. Canada has been in an economic downward spiral for years now and its economy and people are suffering. We have a cost of living and economic crisis the worst our country has ever seen. Buying and being able to afford a home in many places is near impossible for many, the problem keeps spreading, the cost of living is going up for everything (houses, cars, food, gasoline, the carbon tax, utilities) and all of this is creating chaos in Canada.
America, our neighbor to the south, is experiencing a cost of living and housing crisis but not at the level that Canada is. Not even Australia is doing as poorly economically as Canada on so many levels such as GDP per capita. The US is slowly pulling away from Canada while we continue on a downward decline.
This video examines part of the problem with the cost of living and the Canadian housing crisis.

I love this country with all my heart and I would never ever go to live in the USA. But we seriously need to be smarter! We need to get off this housing based economy. We need to step away from the United States and start trading with new emerging economies. We need to bring our resource economy back but also use our money to invest in technology and business. We need to get our cities to become stronger and less car centric like the USA. We need to densify our cities and make them stronger. We need to lower our taxes and build third spaces for young people to hang out.

In 1966 my father bought a three bedroom bungalow in Ancaster Ontario for $15, 500. As an autobody repairman he earned about $7, 500 a year. Last year, the same size house across the street from our old house cost $989, 000. An autobody repairman makes about $90, 000 a year today.

This what happens when Country leaders are politicians not a good managers. Im a Liberal but Trudeau is not a good manager and never was. Conservatives aren’t better.
