In celebration of #IamRemarkable Week, Dr. Jane Goodall discusses her podcast Hopecast, and the moral and spiritual convictions that have driven her during her career journey as a researcher.

In July 1960, Dr. Jane Goodall began her landmark study of chimpanzee behavior in what is now Tanzania. Her work at Gombe Stream would become the foundation of future primatological research and redefine the relationship between humans and animals. In 1977, Dr. Goodall established the Jane Goodall Institute, which continues the Gombe research and is a global leader in the effort to protect chimpanzees and their habitats. The Institute is widely recognized for innovative, community-centered conservation and development programs in Africa, and Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots, a global environmental and humanitarian youth program, founded in 1991 and currently active in more than 60 countries.

For the past 30 years, Dr. Goodall has been speaking about the threats facing chimpanzees, other environmental crises, and her reasons for hope that humankind will solve the problems it has imposed on the earth. Her honors include the French Legion of Honor, the Medal of Tanzania, the Tang Prize, the Templeton Prize, and Japan’s prestigious Kyoto Prize. In 2002, Dr. Goodall was appointed to serve as a United Nations Messenger of Peace and in 2003, she was named a Dame of the British Empire.

Noted. Don't think globally, but act locally. Act small. Hope is contagious.

I agree with Jane that animals do have social structures and feelings. I have a community of dogs that range from 15 to now 11, some have passed away. I have been doing this for almost 20 years now and I can tell you when you live close with them you learn that they have a social structure and feeling toward each other. One thing that I have noticed is in the morning when I put water out that they stand in line waiting their turn to get a drink of water. They just don't all rush to get a drink and push one another out of the way. They wait and take their turns to get water and they form lines to do this! truly interesting when you watch this!

I don't see a PayPal option and want to make sure it goes directly to JGI. But I purchased her book and hope that helps.

The problem is people still do not realized that COVID taught us that we need to respect the animal and nature. They are still flighting with politics everyday and still do not care about animal at all.

only $186 raised, so far? terrible!! people need to be generous for her cause.

This moderator with her (fake) Californian attitude just doesn't seem like the right person to interview this honorable person. I know that's very superficial but in the end that matters too.

Google can afford vocal training. The vocal fry is unbearable.

Please Google, have a look at the human and content quality of this guest (and of the interviewer, I might add), and compare that to the obligatory quota of your, let's say, other category of guests, like the one uploaded hours before this one. these latter ones add almost nothing of substance to the intellectual life of your subscribers, and just demonstrate your paying lip service to an ideology fewer and fewer people are convinced by.

You need to stop interviewing Jane Goodall, she has been dead for years. Whoever at Google did that, needs to be fired.
