Reliance Will Make Semiconductor Chips 😮😮

There are two main reasons for Reliance to go into chip manufacturing.

First is of course to meet the demand of the Indian Market, which currently imports 100% of its semiconductors from countries like China, Taiwan, and Korea.

Secondly, Reliance is dependent on these foreign chips for its own Telecom and electronic device business.

According to Reuters, Reliance has, for months, considered pumping in $300 Mn for a 30% stake in ISMC, a joint venture between Abu Dhabi-based Next Orbit Ventures and Israel’s Tower Semiconductor.

It is now in talks with other global players to set up a manufacturing unit in India.

Its hard if not impossible to compete with TSM in Semiconductor.

If Reliance is aiming to manufacture 50+Nano meter, then it can partner with some US Fab companies and get it done.

Reliance should look to be like Samsung which is in every industry. Only massive companies can operate at huge scale and profitable creating significant value for the country.

Reliance is for someone who already holds capital. Ignore it and focus on small caps.

I don't care if he becomes a semiconductor monopoly in India or he never pays any tax for the revenue from this business but plzzz create a chip fab in India even if it's just a decade old 28nm that's enough

It is a Liberal dilemma that we should be indifferent to the local and national buisnesses and not allow monopoly in any industry. However that is not all true. For eg All south korean corporations have grown so big because they enjoy monopolies in their home country sk eg: hyundai, lg, samsung. Look today how much they contribute to their economy and their country. Samsung alone contributes 17% of the sk economy. India can surely learn from this

OK, before even think about building a chip industry and here is question you need to ask and these are the foundation for a foundry, water, do you have supply of clean water? do you have large supply of electricity? TSMC in Taiwan used about 8% of the electricity generated by Taiwan. Do you have the skilled worker for this industry? A plant will cost anywhere between 12 billion to 40 billion

We don't even have one semiconductor manufacturing facility in spite of talking about it all these years. Never mind "biggest chipmaker" - even just being any kind of chipmaker seems out of reach. We keep talking, and talking, and talking - but no results. (Don't get me wrong -- the previous Indian govt was far worse)

None of you people have any idea of the risks of semiconductor industry. Big money sink!! And success rates are quite low. But if successful big money

Ambani did a lot for India, but blind Modi haters don't see it yet. In the future when he's dead then people are gonna appreciate him a lot more.
