Every sentence has a subject and a predicate. The subject tells whom or what the sentence is about. The subject of a sentence may be simple or complete.
The SIMPLE SUBJECT is the main word or word group that tells whom or what the sentence is about.
The COMPLETE SUBJECT consists of the simple subject and any word(s) that may modify it.
EXAMPLES:
The Caribbean has more than 700 islands, islets, reefs and caves. "The Caribbean" is the SIMPLE SUBJECT.
"The beautiful Caribbean" is the COMPLETE SUBJECT.
