In source A, Simon is presented as a dominant leader, compelling and guiding his companion, Joe to keep climbing “despite [joe] my cries of alarm and pain.”
This connotes his tenacious resolve and how he continues relentlessly without any interference.
The writer expresses “his confidence was infectious” implying it’s so strong that it makes you believe and want to preserve on. It’s nature is inflicted on others and the acknowledgment is shown by joe, inspiring “who said one man can’t rescue another.”
On the other hand in source B, Marius is a more relaxed comforting companion expressing his reliability in ways like having “the strength of a bear” after he helped her up “like a parcel.” This demonstrates his charismatic gentle leadership.
The influence this has on his companion, is that she feels a sense of comfort and affection “obediently” following his lead.
They convey their leadership in different ways which evokes a different relationship with their companion.
As a result, they have different experiences.
