I got the 2023 Rio S Hatchback Silver with Technology package about a month ago. Driven about 600 miles so far, really like it! Smooth ride, nice features, push button start, alloy wheels, LED headlights, etc. Great gas mileage too, my freeway mileage for shorter city trips is averaging 45-50mpg! Haven't taken a longer road trip yet, but I bet the gas mileage would be well over 50mpg. Pretty good for an all gas vehicle! Someday I want a hybrid or electric, but for now this is a great car! I recommend the Rio!

Growing up in the old neighborhood as a kid, someone owned a First Gen. KIA Rio in white. Outside styling wasn't too bad. But the interior was clearly that of a Penalty Box. Then again, it didn't pretend to be anything but cheap daily transportation. The guy put a giant wing on the back. That lasted about two weeks until he took it off. Two holes left in the trunk lid. Maybe it caused him to lose too much traction to the front wheels. Maybe it was so heavy the car became more sluggish.

Today, a Rio is the type of car people on a bit of a budget _want_ to buy. Except for a lack of engine performance and leather seats, it's basically a budget Near-Luxury car. Leather seat covers could be found online. As for the engine, far from sluggish. Clearly enough power for highway driving. A couple of the Rio's competitors in price are side roads/city streets driving ONLY.

Just be sure to get a Rio with Push-Button Start to prevent ridiculously easy car theft. I do like that a sedan option exists. Hatchback might be more pragmatic, for some. But those living in a poor neighborhood will appreciate the security of a lockable trunk.

A buddy of mine took out the back headrests for better visibility since no one sits back there. It definitely helped out a lot.

Since kia did away with the rio manual transmission, will the cvt transmission crook after 2-3 years?

In 2017, I bought the same Rio for 8 thousand dollars. The car is new, I bought it from a dealer in Russia. Since then, it has not changed technically at all, but for some reason it costs up to 25 thousand dollars in the USA. Korean automakers overestimate their products, in reality this car is an ordinary subcompact for trips to the store and to work, and its price has always been 4 thousand dollars from the manufacturer, and 8-10 thousand dollars from the dealer. Don't pay for cheating.

Great value for money on this car, I bought it 4 month's ago. Only drawback I think of is the weak hp it require higher RPM to drive it, other than that it's nice
