From the goalie's perspective, it makes perfect sense to think that what the corner of his eye is 'seeing' down there is the actual ball, not the penalty kick marker.

When my 9-year-old has a "blooper" in a game and gets mad at himself I will show him that professionals make these errors too. Thank you!! These types of videos may have saved a lot of parents from having to hire a sports psychologist for their kids. And apparently, that is a thing.
