Very clear and very thorough explanation. Based on my experience many users are not aware of the search bar in the Table filter dropdown let alone how t use it!

I wonder why MS did not use the industry standards (a.k.a. regex) for their wildcard characters? Instead of the tilde, they should have used the more oft-used backslash escape symbol, IMHO.
